The FRD-1201U is a rugged radio remote control system designed specifically for use in industrial applications. The transmitter provides medium-to-long range remote control of 12 internal receiver relays (plus a main-line relay). The system is FCC Part 15 and Industry Canada approved and requires no additional user license to operate.

The electronic designs of the transmitter and receiver utilize microprocessors for intelligence and state-of-the-art surface mount component technology to minimize size. The transmitter incorporates advanced power saving features (programmable at the factory) that help extend the battery life to more than several months of typical use. Channel Watch™ search and select technology, a 16-bit identification code, and 40 synthesized channels, give the system superior reliability and immunity to false activation from RF interference and allow multiple FRD systems to be operated independently in the same area.

The transmitter has an injection molded case of high impact material, gasket seals for durability and water resistance, an internal antenna, and toggle switches that are double sealed with o-rings and a durable rubber boot, making it ideal for use in harsh industrial environments.

The receiver is packaged in a compact, rugged aluminum case allowing it to be mounted in enclosures and other areas where space is at a premium. Both switch contacts of the receiver’s relays are brought out as outputs on the terminal strip for connection by the user. Each relay remains closed as long as its corresponding toggle switch on the transmitter is activated. An additional main-line relay is provided that closes any time valid command data is being received from the transmitter. The relay may be used as a redundant output to allow functions such as automatic warning lights, horns, etc. to be implemented for enhancing safety.

At power-up, the receiver scans all available channels in the preset frequency group while the transmitter’s Channel Watch™ circuit scans for and selects the first available clear channel. The receiver then also locks onto this channel, allowing communication to be possible. If no function switch is activated on the transmitter for three minutes, the channel is released and the receiver returns to the scan mode. The next time a function switch is activated, the search and lock process is repeated. This feature helps ensure that communication is uninterrupted even in the presence of intermittent interference in the available channel band.

Each system comes complete with a transmitter and receiver, transmitter belt, receiver antenna, antenna cable, and antenna mounting bracket. The receiver antenna can be connected directly to the receiver or mounted at a remote location using the antenna cable and mounting bracket provided.
